Senior Arts and Culture Funding Manager

Diana AgostiniDiana began her career with the Urban center of San Diego in April 2021. In her role as Senior Arts and Civilisation Funding Manager, Diana administers the City's arts and culture funding program to produce, excellent, inclusive, and relevant arts and culture services for San Diego's various and broad audiences, and serves equally pb analyst on technical assistance to incubate and build chapters of arts and culture organizations. She began her work in the arts within the nonprofit education sector in Italy, her native country. Lara Bullock

Civic Fine art Project Manager

Lara joined the City of San Diego in Apr 2019. She assists with management of the Civic Art Collection, facilitates coordination of public art commissions, and manages the siting of art in the public realm. Lara is a contemporary fine art historian, writer, curator, and educator. She has remained committed to the local arts community by serving every bit chair of the Creative person Advancement Committee for the Ascent Arts Leaders of San Diego where she pioneered Rising Arts Fest, a mean solar day-long arts outcome in which all sectors of the arts community are invited to dialogue. As a scholar, Lara is interested in art in a global context from 1945 to nowadays, with a focus on fine art and its touch on in the public realm. She received her B.A. in Art History, Theory, and Criticism with Honours and Modest in English language from the University of British Columbia, followed by her K.A. in Fine art History, Theory, and Criticism from the School of the Art Plant of Chicago. She earned her Ph.D. in Contemporary Art History, Theory, and Criticism from the Academy of California, San Diego.

Kip Eischen

 Arts and Civilisation Project Manager

Kip Eischen photoKip began his career at the Urban center of San Diego in November 2021. He prepares communication materials for constructive engagement and assists in managing the arts and culture funding program and contract direction. Kip worked for years in fine art auctions—at leading auction houses in New York City and Barcelona, Spain, as an Associate Vice President and Specialist in Editions/Works on Newspaper and a Senior Concern Intelligence Analyst in the Contemporary and Asian Fine art markets. He recently completed his MBA at UC San Diego, where he studied nonprofit management and inSite binational art festivals during the 1990s. While also working in the Master Auditor's Role at the San Diego Canton Regional Airdrome Dominance. Earlier in his career, Kip published columns every bit an art critic and worked at a Los Angeles gallery. He authored reviews of exhibitions in San Diego, Tijuana, and Arizona for the New York magazines Flop and Artforum. Kip's undergraduate degree is from Vassar Higher in New York, where he wrote a thesis near Southwestern Land Fine art and studied the History of Art/Compages, Economics, and Urban Studies.

Jonathon Glus

Executive Director

Jonathon GlusJonathon joined the City of San Diego in November 2018. He leads and facilitates the strategic vision of the part. Prior to working in San Diego, he was the Managing director of Culture and Creative Economy for the City of Sacramento, CA where he led the city's first cultural planning process in more than 20 years. Jonathon ready in place an assessment of Sacramento's film sector and an equity inspect of the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission. Prior to Sacramento, he served as the starting time CEO of Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) for more than nine years. While at HAA, he worked closely with a board of more thirty, multiple committees, staff and partner agencies including VisitHouston, the Greater Houston Partnership, cultural districts and universities. Jonathon co-chaired the tourism committee of VisitHouston, partnered on multiple cultural tourism initiatives, and lead ii studies on the creative economy in Houston region. He was also the chairman of the lath of Texans for the Arts (TFA), a statewide arts advancement organization. He was Executive Managing director of Arts & Culture for the Metropolis of Pasadena, CA where he led multiple cultural tourism initiatives and partnerships, represented that city with the Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition & Festival, and led the city'southward cultural planning procedure, in partnership with the Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission. Jonathon began his career with metropolis arts agencies in Evanston, IL, and his arts career with the International Sculpture Center, in Washington, DC where he wrote for SCULPTURE magazine and traveling exhibitions internationally. He studied urban economics and public policy at Indiana Academy, and art and architectural history at University of Illinois. He also studied at Academy of Kent, in Canterbury, England, where he focused on British urban policy.

Christine E. Jones

Chief of Civic Art Strategies

Christine JonesChristine Jones is a cultural strategist, curator, and producer with significant experience working in authorities organizations, museums, galleries, and consultancies. As the Chief of Civic Art Strategies for the Urban center of San Diego Committee for Arts and Culture, she oversees programmatic direction, cultural evolution, and strategic initiatives. Christine cultivates and engages directly on projects that cross programs and sectors, establishes frameworks for arts and culture delivery and advises about the arts industry, artistic economy, and public realm. Formerly, Christine served equally the Metropolis of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture'southward Senior Public Art Manager administering two "percent-for-art" programs and managing the Borough Art Drove. Prior to that, she was a consultant for the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture, developing and delivering major public art commissions and exhibitions in the public realm from concept to completion. As a consultant for the San Diego Unified Port District, Christine guided development of its first public art curatorial strategy to realize public art exhibitions on the tidelands of five littoral jurisdictions in San Diego County. Previous to her public art consultancy, she served equally a Public Art Project Manager for the City of San Diego Committee for Arts and Culture, managing commissions in public places throughout the city. Christine is an Accredited Senior Appraiser recognized by the American Order of Appraisers, specializing in ancient and contemporary Asian art. She has traveled extensively in Asia and Europe, appraised over $50 million in private belongings, negotiated contracts with internationally recognized artists, and previously held positions at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. She holds dual Available degrees in Fine art History and Anthropology from the University of Kansas and a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from San Francisco State University.

Charles (Chuck) Miller

Senior Public Art Manager

Chuck MillerChuck joined the Metropolis of San Diego in January 2019. He manages the Civic Art Collection, engages artists to pattern, fabricate and install public art commission and collaborates with private developers to site art in the public realm. Chuck is an artist, designer, media producer, educator and organizer with 16 years of experience engaging a wide range of the arts and culture sector. Near recently, he was a consultant at the Port of San Diego'southward Waterfront Arts & Activation department and the Design Lab at UCSD. He taught architectural pattern foundations, graphic representation, and special studios on art and urbanism at NewSchool of Architecture and Design, too equally studios in video production and ideation at the University of California, San Diego. Chuck helped re-establish The Periscope Projection, an architectural intervention in Downtown San Diego'south E Village, as an arts / compages / urbanism educational non-profit system. From 2010 to 2013, he served every bit the project's curatorial and residency director, instructor for the project'due south Summer Urban Labs educational series, and in leading roles in the project'due south capacity as a public art and design collaborative. Notably, The Periscope Project was featured in the American Pavilion at the Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2012. Bell Reza

Project Manager

Bell RezaBell Reza joined the City of San Diego in 2017. In her role as a projection manager, she opens lines of advice between departments and businesses to execute projects. Bong provides coordination for several City of San Diego advisory boards, cross-departmental initiatives, and manages both internal and external relationships. With years of experience in both public and individual sectors, Bong has proven expertise working with business executives, boards, commissions, elected officials, and policy makers throughout San Diego. She successfully coordinates complex projects and navigates intricate environments with high degree of item.
